My blog readers first met Megan & Robbie when I wrote about their Engagement Session at The Arbors in Cleveland, NC. This playful and spontaneous couple recently married at The Arbors and I wanted to share some highlights from their beautiful wedding.
We couldn’t have asked for a more gorgeous day — hardly a cloud in the sky, a gentle breeze,  just perfect for an outdoor wedding.  The ceremony and reception went flawlessly with a few unique surprises along the way.  As the darkness fell, the dancing slowed and the crowd began to disperse, we were left with the last remnants of the evening. Snuggled together by an outdoor fire in their wedding finery, Megan & Robbie prove their spontaneity yet again as the marshmallows and chocolate miraculously appear as they celebrate together by roasting smores over the flames.

Love is sweet…

Stephanie and Lauren became best friends during their undergraduate work, and shared their hopes and dreams amid the chaos of classes and schedules. Lauren told Stephanie about her love of travel, hiking, her enthusiasm for the NFL (Go Panthers!), and her enjoyment of tasting craft beer — even her love of scuba diving.

The two remained friends as Stephanie traveled on to graduate school. As best friends often do, Stephanie remained on the lookout for the ‘perfect guy’ for her friend Lauren.

At school, Stephanie met Michael — someone who loves to travel, is a huge fan of Notre Dame football (his alma mater), brews his own craft beer, cooks ethnic food and even scuba dives. Naturally, she immediately began playing matchmaker. Despite Stephanie’s attempts, the timing was never right for Lauren and Michael to meet — that is, until Stephanie’s own wedding! During the hectic chaos of her own wedding, Stephanie made sure cupid’s arrow was perfectly aimed toward her best friend, and as they say, the rest is history.

When I met this couple, they had flown in from San Francisco for their Engagement Session at Davidson College, ending with a beautiful sunset at Lake Davidson. We immediately hit it off! They were so relaxed and happy together, I knew it was going to be a great session. Throughout the session, I learned the couple had nearly traveled the globe during the past two years — scuba diving in Belize and Honduras, camping in the Shenandoah National Park, biking in the Badlands — you name it! To culminate some of their vast interests, they’re even hosting their rehearsal dinner at the Olde Mecklenburg Brewery in Charlotte, NC. I could go on and on about these two — I just wish they were my neighbors! They’re just so full of life, love and completely happy, beautiful people.

Lauren and Michael will exchange vows on June 14th at Little Church on the Lane followed by a reception at the Carmel Country Club.

And just to think — all it took was a little matchmaking by a best friend.

I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope. ~ Psalms 130:5

For the past five years, there’s been a vacant room at Terri and Tyler’s home.  Not vacant by choice, but by circumstance. Like thousands of childless couples, the wait has been enduring and often heartbreaking. But unlike the many who simply give up and accept their fate, Terri and Tyler stood steadfast in their faith. For this couple, it has only been through their belief in God’s promise, their own prayers and those of family and friends, that they were able to make it through their long journey of loss, hurt and emptiness. Despite it all, their faith never wavered.

I, personally, have been part of this couple’s journey, and was excited beyond belief when hearing the wonderful news – a baby girl was soon to make their family complete.  Their fervent prayers had been answered.

The adoption process went through without a hitch, and I was asked to capture some of their first moments together at home. Needless to say, I was both excited and humbled. As Terri held little Cora Rosalie (named after both their grandmothers), she said, “It feels so surreal. Like all the pain, hurt and waiting over the past years have all been redeemed in that very moment.” More than once, my eyes filled with tears as I watched this couple snuggling with their daughter.  It was truly a moment not only of love and faith, but also a testament of God’s promise. As Tyler watched his wife gently cradle their daughter for the first time, he said, “It was amazing to see God’s plan come together.  I couldn’t take my eyes off the baby – she’s a precious gift.”

Like all parents, Terri and Tyler have hopes and dreams for their daughter.  Said Terri, “Our hope is that she will always know how much she was prayed for – that her story is amazing. The way she joined our family is so special and reflective of the way we, as believers, are adopted into the family of God.”

To the other parents who have yet to see their dreams realized, Terri has encouragement for them, “Don’t lose hope. Keep your faith. God allows things to happen at precisely the right time. Our job isn’t to figure out when, but to trust in Him, keeping your heart and mind focused. Trusting God brings life.”

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” ~ Jeremiah 29:11

Family and friends aside, I absolutely love couples and traveling.  So when the opportunity recently presented itself to combine all of these together, I couldn’t have been happier.

Amy and Jeff are getting married in November at The Garden Cafe in York, SC, and knowing of their love for the beach, I let them know I would be at Hilton Head if they were interested in an engagement session at that location. Even with their hectic schedules and demanding jobs, they jumped at the chance for a quick weekend get-away.

There are few things in the world that are never tiring to me, regardless of how many times I’ve seen them — sunrise and sunset. The beauty and warmth captivate me, and never fail to leave me in awe.
The sunrise for our 6:45am session was no exception. Meeting on the beach, we started right to work. Aside from a few runners and an older couple picking up seashells, the beach was nearly vacant at that time.

The love and adoration Amy and Jeff show towards one another is simply effortless. You could immediately tell these two are certainly happiest when they’re together.

We ended our session at Harbour Town which was unparalleled in beauty, with the ocean and the yachts.

Prior to our Engagement Session,  I asked the couple what they really love most about each other. Amy said, “Jeff always wants every day that we’re together to be special.”
I think this day would certainly fall under that heading.

If you want to know how much I love you, count the waves.  ~ Anonymous
