As a photographer, we often get the privilege of visiting out-of-the-way places that would otherwise go unnoticed by us. It’s like an adventure with each new location, and one never knows quite what to expect.
When I met Brandy & Aaron, my first impression was how their happiness was so contagious. They clearly love each other, and were totally comfortable having fun together.
During a walk across the old Overhead Bridge in Waxhaw, NC, the couple became engaged, so it was only natural for them to return to this special place for their engagement photos.
The bridge itself holds much history, having been built in the late 1800s by the railroad.  Since 1940, the bridge has been a pedestrian walkway, and is included on the Historical Walking Tour of Waxhaw.
Combining the old with the new is important to Brandy & Aaron, and she came to the photo shoot holding her grandmother’s hand-sewn quilt. ┬áThe quilt, which has been in the family for a number of years, holds the significance of their new life together — connecting with the past, while preparing for a future together.

As the couple marry on April 6th at Saratoga Springs, NC, the meaning behind Grandmother’s quilt will come full circle, as it connects the hearts and souls of the past, present and future. Special thanks to Brandy & Aaron, for being so enjoyable to work with, and to James from JPKarner Photography for assisting me on the shoot.
